LRC, Inc. WC Test: The dog will retrieve a shot bird at approximately 50 yards on land. The dog must not be gun shy. The dog will retrieve two shot ducks from water as back-to-back singles to show willingness to reenter the water. The dog need not be steady, so a dog may be held on the line. Delivery to hand is not required, but it is suggested that the area of delivery be within easy reach of the handler. This area will be determined by the judges prior to the beginning of the test. Dogs must be at least six months of age. Further explanation of rules and regulations for the WC are available at www.thelabradorclub.com
WCI: Double on land and double on water, 75-100 yard retrieves, moderate cover, decoys, no blind, on lead honor, not gun shy, steady off lead, delivery to hand, boat may be used, proper hunting attire or dark clothing required.
WCX: Triple on land and triple on water or land-water, 75-100 yard retrieves, 50-75 yard blind(s) on land and/or water (outside the marks), diversion shot, duck calls, decoys, off lead honor, not gun shy, steady off lead, delivery to hand, boat may be used, proper hunting attire or dark clothing required.
Pee Wee Retriever / Novice Stake: three age divisions: Baby - 3 months to under 6 months; Junior - 6 months to under 9 months and Senior - 9 months to under 12 months. Two single land retrieves and two single water retrieves. Handler’s choice of birds or bumpers. Dogs can be run on long lines. Distances will be determined by the judges. The Pee Wee stake is for puppies up to 12 months of age or Novice dogs, no age limit but must be a true novice, with little to no retrieving experience. NOTE: Any dog entered in the Pee Wee or Novice stake cannot be entered in any of the other tests (WC, WCI, WCX).
Conformation Certificate (can pre-register or register the day of event)
offered by the LRC, Inc. is a non-competitive conformation evaluation program open to all Labrador Retrievers, over one year of age, including spayed and neutered dogs. Labradors will be judged in accordance with the Standard. The Evaluation Sheet contains (8) conformation and temperament categories for a judge to consider on a numerical basis. Each dog will be scored in each category using the number (1) through (3) point system described. The Conformation Certificate is not an official title, but should be considered an accomplishment similar to the LRC, Inc. Working Certificate. It is an opportunity for owners of Labrador Retrievers who are not interested and/or familiar with competitive conformation events to have their dogs evaluated and recognized as having basic Labrador Retriever conformation characteristics
